Lazy man's post

(On left, a publicity still of Tippi Hedren from her most famous movie, The Birds; above right, a glamour shot.)

I'm reminded of Tippi Hedren because TCM is showing "Marnie" tonight. The movie features a silly plot, mediocre dialogue, overwrought acting, and two of the best-looking people ever to grace the screen, Tippi Hedren and Sean Connery.

In the movie, Hedren plays a woman so traumatized by her mother's prostitution that she abhors the touch of men and is a kleptomaniac. (Trust me, it doesn't really add up.) But that is beside the point. This post is merely an excuse to put up Hedren's picture.

For the young folks: this is the way movie stars used to look.

Tippi Hedren was/is a beautiful woman. Her work with wild animals (lions, tigers, etc.) is impressive.

Birdie --
Yes, I know taste is subjective, but I thought she was unbelievably attractive.

Her work with animals has received mixed reviews. She evidently put her family into a lot of needless danger.

Old movie stars looked like real people. Gorgeous, but without all the "work." I miss seeing their beautiful, natural faces.
