Guy Davis sent the following quote from Andrew Cuomo, the newly-elected Governor of New York:
"I'm a progressive Democrat who's broke."
It's rare for a politician to be able to satisfy both sides, but that line shows why Cuomo's approval ratings are so high at the moment. With those six words he both shows the left that he is one of them and reassures the right that he has common sense. It's a skillful balancing act.
Cuomo will undoubtedly not be able to satisfy both sides for very long, and his approval ratings only have one direction to go. But so far he has demonstrated that he has inherited many of his father's political skills.
