Too bad Paula Deen wasn't a prominent Democrat

Paula Deen has now lost her TV show and several of her endorsements because she used the n-word. It's too bad for her sake that she's not a prominent liberal, because then she might have gotten away with her intemperate use of the forbidden word.

Back in 2007, Democrat Joe Biden said of Barack Obama, "I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy."

Biden's strong implication is that every other black was either inarticulate, dumb, dirty, or ugly. Biden, of course, is now Barack Obama's Vice President.

Back in 2008, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid waxed similarly enthusiastic when he said that candidate Obama was a "light-skinned" African-American "with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one."

Reid seemed to be implying that a dark-skinned man with a stronger black accent would have been unacceptable. But that's okay, because Reid is a Democrat.

Actor Alec Baldwin once called a black New York Post photographer a "coon," a "crackhead," an "ex-con," and a "drug dealer." (The photographer was in fact a retired NYPD detective.) But Baldwin is a prominent liberal, so all is forgiven, and he is still the spokesman for Capital One.

Hillary Clinton, in a fit of rage, once called political operative Paul Fray, "You fucking Jew bastard." She also said that Mahatma Gandhi "ran a gas station down in St. Louis." And she went into a black church and started speaking in a black accent, in perhaps the most awkward moment of the entire 2008 campaign. Clinton is now the leading Democratic contender for the 2016 Presidential race.

Senator Robert Byrd, a former Klansman from West Virginia, said in 2001, "There are white niggers. I've seen a lot of white niggers in my time." There were no serious repercussions for Byrd, a Democrat.

Paula: it's not too late to register.

John, if I'm correct, Paula Deen's a registered Democrat who campaigned for Obama in 2008. She voted for Obama the first time and possibly again last Nov. She also had Michelle Obama on her show and fawned all over her they way white people sometimes do to prove how non-racist they are.

The interesting thing is that the Left and MSM have went after Paula in spite of her being a Democrat. Being white and Southern trumps any allegiance she has to the Democrat Party unless one is a high-ranking political player (like Byrd and Biden).

I love it when the Left eats their own, and when political-correctness is followed to its devastating conclusion. This might wake up some people who never considered how evil and Orwellian PC ideas are in the real world.

I'm not too hopeful for Paula though. She was interviewed two days ago by Matt Lauer on The Today Show and made a complete slobbering and groveling fool of herself. Lauer grilled and cross-examined her like nothing I've ever see on TV before! It was the height of sanctimonious anti-racism coming from a typical liberal.

Thank you for that. You're way better informed than me about Deen. I had never seen her show, having no interest in cooking, and didn't know that she was in fact a Democrat. (i guess I have to put the emphasis on "prominent" now.)

You're absolutely right in your description of the way whites will fall all over themselves trying to prove how non-racist they are. (These gentlemen doth protest too loudly.)

Thing is, they go after people that would be hurt or devastated by a charge of being racist.

I would love to see them try it on someone like Tom Metzger for example.

They would just laughed at and egged on by the people they would try to give the third degree to.

True, but they also go after people with more to lose, like a TV show and a book contract. They want to make sure that everybody in the public eye toes the line very carefully.

Metzger has nothing to lose along those lines.

Reading the very first comment proves it does not matter if Democrats call out their own. You will just make up an excuse as to why they did it .

"oh she is white and southern so the Democrats dont get credit for calling her our on her ways "

We understand you dont like us, but now you are just making excuses for being wrong.

The bigger problem is that you right wingers admit to seeing things that Biden,Reid and Clinton say as racist, yet dont speak up. If you see it as racist, then why not call it out ? Are you simply ok with it being said ? im asking because i honestly dont know.

Actually, what I was saying is that Democrats do NOT call out their own. Biden, Reid, et al completely skated for comments that would have gotten a Republican hounded from office.

As far as how "right wingers" see things, many of us become this way because we see the huge double standard that exists between what is allowed to be said by and about blacks and whites. We see the huge disparity in interracial crime rates, which the media does its best to cover up. If a black kills a white, it's buried in the back section of a newspaper like the NY Times; if some whites supposedly rape a black woman, as in the Duke lacrosse case, it's front page new on the Times for weeks. If a white actually does kill a black, it's an occasion for Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton to fly in, hold hold marches and candlelight vigils etc, and get endless coverage by the press. This is a double standard that a lot of people ("right wingers") are heartily sick of.

In my personal life, I've seen far more overt racism from blacks than from whites. Just at a casual level, i've known plenty of whites will root for blacks in sport, even over white athletes; I've never known a single black who's rooted for a white athlete over a black one.

I'm curious: you say you want whites to call out other whites for being racist. Are you as anxious for blacks to call out other blacks for being racist? Are you as offended by a description of a white as a "creepy ass cracker" as you are by a white using a derogatory term for blacks? Or are you just okay with it?

Most "right wingers," as you describe us, just want everybody to be judged by the same standard.
