But I've found that of the people I've known personally who speak that way, most of them tend to be grouped at the remorseless end of the personality spectrum. I definitely am not a sociopath. Starting either in my forties or fifties, I have occasionally said, I couldn't do such and such because my conscience would bother me. I am in awe of how the things of nature, our human bodies, are designed. The majority of people have this wondrous quality within ourselves that is capable of keeping us on the "straight and narrow," so to speak.
