I had actually originally put that info in ...Guy --
I had actually originally put that info in the post, along with the factoid that Prince Charles is a direct descendant of Genghis Khan, but took it out, as the emphasis was supposed to be on them, and not their lineage. Pretty much all of the crowned heads of Europe have turned into cousins or more over the past couple centuries. I'd never thought of that as being the reason why the Queen Mum and Princess Di were so popular, though. Interesting, and it makes sense.John Craighttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08729625146043379286noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5794535954827182754.post-12880739758264404412011-02-12T12:09:30.329-05:002011-02-12T12:09:30.329-05:00The wonderful irony of the British royals is that ...The wonderful irony of the British royals is that they are Germans. Victoria's mother was a Saxe-Coburg as was her husband Albert. The current Queen's mother was a princess of Wurttemberg, another German. Elizabeth married a Greek-Danish prince, again diluting the minimally British contribution to the royal gene pool. This, I believe, is a key reason that the Queen Mother and the Princess Di were so popular - they actually are Brits.
GAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
