The only thing is, for the line to work, it has to be delivered confidently, not hesitatingly. And I'm not sure he did that. I've seen the kid since, he was quite friendly; but who knows. Sure hope I didn't scar him.

Yes, Wall Street definitely attracts more than its share of sociopaths, as does Washington DC and Hollywood. He took his son to you for advice and you totally ripped him haha. It was a good line though. It might not have the same charm when someone else says it to you though. If the kid didn't already have a complex about looking geeky, he quite possibly has one now.. He'll be standing up in alcoholics anonymous in 20 years talking about the day he met John Craig.

The sociopaths in the office...that's kind of depressing. I know some of the people in that line of work are good chaps but it doesn't speak well for it that it attracts so many sociopaths, does it? There was some online psychopath test I took in this country and it asked what paper you read and stuff and the the paper with the highest psychopath score was the financial times.
Stevenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15276736643046430370noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5794535954827182754.post-5050339078653668502014-05-30T07:19:21.554-04:002014-05-30T07:19:21.554-04:00Hooter --

I can still remember swimming times pretty well, but these days I'll meet someone and then a couple days later will not recognize him (or her) walking down the street.

Remembering all the stock symbols would be a pretty neat trick. This is wonderful advice that you're giving here and I appreciate you for taking the time to give it.

I've never been good at selling myself to potential employers at all. I think I've always had that nagging doubt about my own shortcomings. I can trace it all the way back to grade school. Honestly, I think I had some kind of learning disability that no one knew of or cared about, which set me on a path of insecurity and mediocre mental performance. I've always admired intelligent people, but I've always struggled to attain knowledge.

I wonder if it's nature or nurture? I think you're either born with genetic predisposition to memory and math or you're not.

You sir are a good writer and a smart man to boot. Respect.Spychiatristnoreply@blogger.com
