I'v generally found tat a good rule of thumb with either weights or calisthenics is, wait till the soreness goes away from the previous workout, then you're ready to do it again. Good luck with the program. I notice my program is quite similar to the ideal one you mentioned in the post actually!

I find with calisthenics, I can tell if I need to rest because my muscles are sore. It would be nice to only do it twice a week though.

Ideally, I do 4 or 5 sets of push ups that add up to more than 100, and I'm increasing the sets til I can do 100 in one go.Stevenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15276736643046430370noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5794535954827182754.post-18533530327251260572014-11-25T19:54:56.135-05:002014-11-25T19:54:56.135-05:00Steven --

You're giving each set of muscles adequate time to recover.

If you're doing the same calisthenics, and doing them hard, twice a week is all you need. If I play soccer on Monday, I want to give myself a couple of days rest then do jogging and sprints on thursday (to improve my fitness for soccer, which involves both) and then have a lot of recovery time before Monday.

I'll also swim one day and do some calisthenics a few times a week. I do mix up my workouts from cardio to upper body and lower body. Some days just stretching and ab workouts and on an occasional off day you see me working out in the yard for more therapy. It helps relieve my stress level and actually keeps me sane.
Mad DogAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5794535954827182754.post-81735536662490826572009-11-02T13:47:53.778-05:002009-11-02T13:47:53.778-05:00I guess I forgot to mention he was just responding...I guess I forgot to mention he was just responding to an insult from me.John Craighttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08729625146043379286noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5794535954827182754.post-11903541314229994502009-11-02T13:22:19.364-05:002009-11-02T13:22:19.364-05:00Nice kid.
