I'm convinced it's true, especially after having seen some of the evidence locally. Part of the problem with this is it's a subject for which you could never have a perfectly controlled experiment, since there are so many variables that feed into growth. But common sense would tell you that overtraining at an early age could easily have a negative effect.
Virtually everyone who knows John finds him completely tactless and insufferably opinionated. He sees himself as refreshingly honest. That said, this blog is still an excellent way to kill time while putting off work. If you're a newcomer, you might find browsing through the older posts an amusing waste of time as well.
