The real message of the #Metoo movement

The most recent men named in the mushrooming sex scandal are, Leonard Lopate (of WNYC radio):

Johnathan Schwartz (of WNYC radio):

Playwright Israel Horowitz:

Public radio personality John Hockenberry:

Conductor James Levine:

Congressman Trent Frank:

And Judge Alex Kozinski:

The real message of the #Metoo movement seems to be, "Don't make a pass at us if you're old or ugly, otherwise we'll scream bloody murder. But if you're good-looking, well, then it's okay."

 Isn't that lookism?

This whole movement is getting out of hand, ridiculous at times. Who hasn't been hit on at some point in life? On another note, Jonathan Schwartz looks somewhat like M. Scott Peck.

He does, a little. I had to look him up, even though the title of his most famous book was familiar.

OH GOOD I hate John Hockenberry... now if only some misfortune could befall Kai Risdal...his voice is like the perfect cry-of-the-douchebag, worse than Ted Baxter, worse than any character from "The Simpsons"...I just want to see giant wasps lay their eggs inside of him and then observe his struggles as the larvae hatch and migrate through his flesh, consuming him from within...and I don't even know what he looks like

how do you feel about Kai Risdal's voice (you know, the creep from "MARKETPLACE"), o Mister Craig? Am I over-reacting here? tell the truth, now...

I'd never heard of him until you just mentioned him, I just listened to him on Youtube, I can see why you say that, though his voice didn't bother me that much.

If you hate him that much, why listen to him? Why not just turn the radio off?

"If you hate him that much, why listen to him? Why not just turn the radio off?"

this is the type of sensible question that tends to reveal my fundamental flaw (or flaws)

my friends by now are all like "well, why didn't you put the mayonnaise jar back into the refrigerator instead of leaving it out at room temperature for days, don't you know that's not safe, WAIT, NOPE, scratch that, NEVER MIND, I don't want to hear about it"

it's like 2 PETER 2:22:

"But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire."

why does the dog go back to the vomit, why does the sow return to the mire, why doesn't the crocodile leave the swamp and get an easy job doing commercials like his cousin that nice green gecko working for GEICO?

obviously, IT IS just FATE...nothing we can do

Ha, well, that's an answer. I'm guessing that the real reason you listen to him is somewhere in between, there's not much else to listen to when you're in the car and I'm not a huge music buff, and you sort of "hate listen" to him the way some people "hate read" the opposition viewpoint on politics.

John,
Of course it's "lookism." When the Weinstein situation was in full eruption, I posited to a somewhat liberal female friend that the main reason he was outed was that, in spite of his position, he was a ugly slug of a man with bad manners. I was told that it was all about power and nothing else. "Well, what if he was a guy who was running a movie production company, had impeccable manners, was suave, and looked like a male lead in one of those historic romance serials on PBS?" She said that the result would be the same but there was a very noticeable pause before she responded.

Yeah, it's about looks.

Cleverly done.

Take a look at all the guys who've been "outed" so far, and the vast majority have been "victims" of lookism. It's always fun to watch when liberal "-isms" collide.

Of course, I suppose in order to disguise this, some good-looking guys will now be be brought up for their 15 minutes of shame, too. But I suspect a lot fewer of them will be guilty of the sort of aggressiveness that characterized Weinstein's various approaches.

Fun fact: 5 out of the 7 men pictured here are Jewish. This seems to go with the trend of more than half of all the people accused in by the #metoo movement are Jewish despite being 2 percent of the population.

I covered that angle in this post --
