A modern day lynching

It's now all but certain that the attack on Empire actor Jussie Smollett two weeks ago in Chicago was nothing but another hate hoax. Although practically his entire walk that night was captured by security cameras, there is no footage of him being accosted.

It took place at 2AM, on a night when it was 6 degrees, a temperature which tends to inhibit outdoor criminal activity.

It seems highly unlikely that some hate-mongering white supremacist gay-bashers would actually recognize Jussie Smollett (who claimed they called him "that Empire f----t n----r"), in the middle of the night, when he's presumably bundled up to ward off the extreme cold.

Jussie Smollett himself still refuses to release his phone records from that night to the Chicago police.

The "noose" which was found tied around Smollett's neck was not tied in a hangman's knot, but rather the way a necktie is. (What self-respecting lynch mob would ever use a Windsor or four-in-one knot?)

And when Smollett, after his "ordeal," showed up at a friend's apartment, he still had the "noose" around his neck. (Wouldn't your instinct be to get that thing off you as soon as possible?)

Immediately following the reports of the attack, Presidential candidate Kamala Harris released a statement saying, "@Jussie Smollett is one of the kindest, most gentle human beings I know. I'm praying for his quick recovery. This was an attempted modern day lynching. No one should have to fear for their life because of their sexuality or the color of their skin. We must confront this hate."

Presidential candidate Cory Booker, our modern day Spartacus, released a similar statement: "The vicious attack on actor Jussie Smollett was an attempted modern-day lynching. I'm glad he's safe. To those in Congress who don't feel the urgency to pass our Anti-Lynching bill designating lynching as a federal hate crime – I urge you to pay attention."

Both candidates are undoubtedly regretting their hasty words. But both are correct, in a sense. What happened that night in Chicago was in fact a "modern day lynching": the kind that never took place.

Historically, lynchings are a blight on this country. Between 1882 and 1968, roughly 3500 blacks and 1300 whites were killed this way.

Now things are different. I don't have an exact number, but it does seem that a high percentage of the most dramatic instances of white-on-black "hate crimes" so breathlessly reported on by the media in fact turn out to be hoaxes.

The mainstream media, of course, splash the initial reports all over their front pages, but then, as they are debunked, are content to let these stories quietly die.

I've explained before how hate hoaxers have Munchausen's Syndrome, which is nothing more than an offshoot of sociopathy. Except that these days, instead of falsely claiming to be victims of cancer, that time-honored sociopathic scam, they choose to be victims of "hate crimes" instead. Gays will pretend to be victims of gay-bashing, and blacks will pretend to be victims of racially-motivated hate. (Jussie Smollett claimed to be a victim of both.)

The one thing that all of these "victims" have in common is that they're sociopaths. (No one else would even consider such a scam, let alone keeping it going with ongoing lies for as long as they can.)

Given which, Kamala Harris's description of Smollett as one of the "kindest" people she knows seems a severe misjudgment of character.

Such a mistake is forgivable: we all make them, especially with sociopaths. (At the time it just seemed surprising that Harris would know Smollett so well: do their social circles really overlap that much?)

We can hope that a President Harris would learn from her mistake and be a tad more circumspect about the next such "hate crime." Maybe she'll even acknowledge that black-on-white violence is far more prevalent than the reverse, despite what the media would have us believe.

But that seems unlikely.

And perhaps a President Booker might, along with his demand for an anti-lynching law, also consider a law against hate hoaxes, given how they stir up so much hate.

But that, too, seems unlikely.

And perhaps even the kind and gentle Jussie Smollett himself -- our modern-day Emmett Till -- will feel guilt-ridden about his hoax.

But, once a sociopath, always a sociopath.

But it's not just sociopaths. For the most part, no one ever changes.

So probably the stupidest mistake of all was for me to think I could ever sway anyone's thinking in the slightest by explaining the truth about these things.

Many people saw through this fake crime. Some people think he was having a hookup with someone from Grinder(?). Once you hear the details of the supposed crime, things don't add up. Unfortunately, there are gullible people who lack common sense and buy into the story put forth by the pretend victim.

And among the gullible were two Presidential candidates. But was it their gullibility that led them make those statements, or was it that they're the types who see only what they want to see?

Hey John- Have you ever thought about doing a “sociopath alert” on Robert Blake, the actor? Interviews make me think he’s probably a classic case.

John Craig said...

Smallberries Worldwide --
I remember getting those vibes during his murder trial as well. Just looked him up on Wiki and saw the following about his early life:

"Blake had an unhappy childhood and was allegedly abused by his alcoholic father. When he entered public school at age 10, he was bullied and had fights, which led to his expulsion. Blake states that he was physically and sexually abused by his parents while growing up and was frequently locked in a closet and forced to eat off the floor."

That certainly sounds like the background of a sociopath. Sexually abused by BOTH parents? Yikes. I doubt I'll write a post on him, I'm not doing as much blogging these days, but there do seem to be a lot of sociopathic personalities in Hollywood. I've long thought that Jack Nicholson and Sharon Stone are both sociopaths as well, those are two who come to mind immediately.

I think there are plenty of sociopathic Democratic politicians. They'll say anything, even if they know that what they're telling you is an absolute lie. They push the liberal narrative. According to the Dems and the MSM, Trump supporters are low IQ, uneducated, irrational, racist, homophobic, etc. hicks. Yet, the Trump rallies manage to be packed houses, unlike the media's celebrity Democratic politicians who typically don't draw the crowds. The MSM thinks we're stupid and does it's best to control the narrative.

It's my impression that there are more sociopathic Democratic politicians than Republicans (not that the latter don't have sociopaths among their number, and I've written about a few of them). But the stock in trade of a sociopath is to pretend to be a much better person than one is (i.e., kind, gentle, loving, caring, compassionate, etc.) and the way the Democrats like to position themselves is as the party which cares more. So if you're a sociopath looking to let people know that you "feel their pain" (a la BillClinton) or that in the end you're answerable to the "steady gaze of my own conscience" (a la Barack Obama) the easiest way to do this is to spout the talking points of the Democrats. It's harder to pose as the reincarnation of Mahatma Gandhi by advocating lower taxes and a more efficient government, even if in the end those things are better for the majority of the citizens.

Hi John,

Great article. It's amazing how this story gets past the general media and most people just think it actually happened. I had a definite sense that something was untoward when I learned that he deleted his phone records-who the hell bothers to do that. See you in the pool! Brian

Thank you. Yes, a lot of people seem to be thinking that it was just a GRINDR date gone bad. Who knows. Whatever it was, it doesn't seem to have been Trump supporters yelling "This is MAGA country!" at 2AM when it was 6 degrees out in the middle of a gay and black section of Chicago.

The other thing that occurs to me is, what are the odds that such hate-mongering white supremacist gay-bashers would actually recognize Jussie Smollett (who claimed they called him "that Empire f----t n----r"), in the middle of the night, when he's presumably bundled up to ward off the six degree temperatures? (I think I'll insert that thought into this post.)

I wonder why he didn't play the anti Semitic card seeing as he is half Jewish.
The attackers (two MAGA hat and mask wearing Nigerians) probably did not recognize him as being Jewish as it was pretty cold out that night. But then again maybe they failed to check if he was Circumcised or Jussie was not wearing a yarmulke that night.

I never heard of Jussie till then. Now he is most famous. He's going to be a big Hollywood star, maybe run for president some day.

I'd never heard of Jussie either. The idea that a couple of Trump supporters would recognize him, all bundled up, in the middle of the night, is particularly implausible, but then again, everything about this whole story was implausible to begin with.

In the meantime, the whole incident is a gift that keeps giving. The NY Times and their ilk will hope the story dies a quiet death, but I hope it stays on the front page for a while. It's a perfect illustration of the type of people who populate that side of the culture wars. You can say that Smollett is just a lone sociopath who's caused a lot of mischief, and shouldn't be seen as in any way typical of the Left, and that is in a sense true. But the larger picture encompasses the reactions of all the people who are so hungry for this type of incident to actually occur, so that they can point at it and say, See? This type of behavior from Trump supporters is what we're up against! And those who exhibited that particular appetite include at least two Presidential candidates and virtually all the MSM.

The evolutionary psychologist Gad Saad has been calling it Collective Munchausen. Conservative twitter has been talking about nothing but this for days.

John Craig said...

Steven --
Thank you for that, hadn't heard about him. Just read about his theory, though, and what he's describing is something different: the mass hysteria which greeted Trump's election and the fear that right wing death squads are now going to be roaming America, looking for minorities and gays to execute. He's not talking about specific hoaxers like Smollett, who actually do have Munchausen's, he's using the term more metaphorically to describe the general Leftist mindset. (And I do think it's an apt metaphor.)

The Daily Mail has had loads of articles about Jussie, almost daily since this fake attack occurred. I had never heard of him until the story broke. He is a sociopathic attention seeker. We have the mockingbird media (a CIA implemented plan, starting ?) to thank for pushing these false news stories upon us. Actual investigative journalism is a thing of the past, discouraged. Truth is irrelevant. Believing the lie is what matters.

There are a lot of people who seem to have swallowed the Kool-Aid, but for those who haven't, seeing the constant propaganda the MSM spews has pushed them further to the right. And seeing how reverentially Smollett was first treated when the news of his "attack" broke, is a god example of this. They'll continue to spin this story as much as they can, but they're dealing with an extremely weak hand.

In times past when something like this has happened, they quickly turn self-righteous again with statements to the effect of, "Well, this one may not have been exactly as initially advertised, but we shouldn't let that distract us from our focus on the very real problems of racism and homophobia which plague this country." I'm guessing we'll hear similar statements this time around from the usual suspects. I'm waiting impatiently to hear what Kamala Harris and Cory Booker have to say.

Kamala Harris will reveal herself as a sociopath sooner or later I think (or someone will do the hard work and dig up some dirt). There are some rumours doing the rounds but their credibility is uncertain to me.

John Craig said...

Luqman --
I haven't seen enough of her to really have an opinion on that. I know she made her way initially in California by being Willie Brown's girlfriend, and I know she's done a 180 on a lot of the stances she took as an AG, but so far haven't seen anything that screams sociopathy. I'm sure we'll get to see a lot more of her in the near future, though.

Any chance this homiesexual apologize to Trump and his supporters. Lol

About two days after this hoax, I went to my grocery store to buy a Starbucks coffee because all the Starbucks' closed early due to extreme cold. A little background here. I live in a Chicago. neighborhood that went 70% for Trump. It's about 90% White and we're aware of certain social issues. So as I was leaving with my coffee, I noticed two Black guys in line paying for their groceries. It wasn't my imagination, but they were staring at me really hard. As I walked in there direction, they shouted "Yeah, Make America great Again" in a really mocking tone. No way was I gonna let this go unanswered so I yelled "hell yeah. Glad you're on board". As I kept walking they yelled that Trump sucks and he's running the country. I then yelled " 2020 and Chicago is MAGA country". I didn't know if I was going to see these assclowns in the parking lot, so I took the coffee lid off in case I had to throw it in their face. Luckily, we didn't have a confrontation. Oh, and I'm armed and trained.

Gotta say that this incident pissed me off to no end. It took a lot of nerve for these Blacks to come into a White neighborhood and heckle a Trump supporter. Could you imagine if a White dude went into a Black neighborhood and heckled someone with an Obama shirt. He'd be shot.

You're a lot more courageous than I am. I keep a much lower profile in public.

You're certainly right about the double standard, it's front and center on the national stage all the time and no one says anything about it. Basically blacks say whatever they feel like most of the time, and whites have to tiptoe around taking great care not to offend anyone. The good news, though, is that more and more people are noticing the double standard and are heartily sick of it. (This reaction is basically what got Trump elected.)

As far as apologies, all we've heard from Kirsten Gellibrand and Cory Booker and Kamala Harris so far is dead silence. I was surprised, though, that Al Sharpton actually said today that if this is a hoax, Smollett should be prosecuted to the full extend of the law. Sharpton, btw, has never admitted to this day that the whole Tawana Brawley thing was a hoax.

I didn't tell my wife about this incident because she keeps telling me something might happen. No offense to you, John, but I feel that someone refraining from wearing a shirt, hat, or even being open about who the like for fear of a backlash, is a victim of bullying. I absolutely hate bullies. I'm also of the belief that there are closeted conservatives who might see people being open and that might have them open up.

I do have my limits. I do not wear my hat in ghettos or barrios because I know the mentality of these people and what they're capable of. I do have two kids that need their dad.

If I worked for Trump, I'd milk this and the Covington incident for all it's worth. I still think there are millions of Whites who didn't vote in 16 that might now be motivated with the right push.

John Craig said...

Spartan --
Your wife is right.

I'm not offended at all; You're right: in a sense, not wearing a MAGA hat makes me a victim of bullying. I don't wear a MAGA hat for the same reason I don't put a Trump bumper sticker on my car: I know that those on the Left tend to have fewer inhibitions in general, and are much more likely to, say, key my car, or kick it and possibly dent it, than someone on the Right would be to do the same to a car with a Clinton bumper sticker. (There's also a little bit of, I'm less a fan of the Trump himself than I am a supporter of his policies, so even without the implicit threat I might not be all that inclined to wear a hat or put a bumper sticker on.)

The case could be made that by not wearing your hat in the ghetto, you too are a victim of "bullying." I don't see it that way, though, I think it's just a matter of self preservation and common sense. Most people, though they wouldn't spell it out this way, would feel the same about walking through East St. Louis or Detroit unarmed at 2AM that they would about doing a solo trek through the Amazon jungle: why tempt fate? Too many feral creatures to contend with.

Agree, this Smollett incident, like the Covington incident, should be examined and analyzed and held up to the light and studied to see what lessons can be drawn from it. (I plan to do so with another post.)

Q (Trump and team communicate by way of Q) stated that the Smollett event was staged to give Booker and Harris a platform and an opportunity to push their (false) narrative: violence by white supremacists is dramatically increasing. They authored and passed a bill shortly after, making lynching a federal crime. So, it was a false flag event. I now think these two senators are sociopaths themselves.

I wouldn't be surprise doc Booker is a sociopath, he has a long history of obfuscation and outright lying, for instance his invention of "T-Bone," the fictional drug dealer he claimed to be friendly with while he was Mayor of Newark. Kampala Harris I don't know enough about to say.

Also, Q showed photos of Smollett hanging out with the Obamas, Kamala Harris, Maxine Waters, etc. It seems Smollett agreed to pull this stunt for a reason, promote some b.s. narrative. I found this information out by reading the prayingmedic YouTube Qanon February 19, 2019 decode. I enjoy reading Q drops, learning what Trump and his team are up to behind the scenes.

John, how about a Sociopath Alert on Elizabeth Holmes? You have plenty of material to build a case around.

Good call, you must have just seen the HBO documentary about her.

A sociopath alert about Elizabeth Holmes was on my to-do list for a long time, but I never got around to it, and these days I'm just blogging sporadically. I may get around to it eventually, but no promises. (There are a limitless supply of sociopaths to write about, if you're so inclined.)
