"Shucks, we wuz so broke: Clintons' tale of woe is an insult to working Americans"

Hilarious account of the Clintons' financial troubles, as narrated by John Podhoretz.

Well, I have learned from personal experience that sociopaths don't know how to manage money (they are human tornadoes), so they create financial headaches for family members, society, businesses, etc. It doesn't surprise me that the Clintons had financial woes, all due to Bill (his innate corruptness).

Actually, the point of Podhoretz's essay was that the Clinton's were never broke, and for HIllary to cry poor when she never was in a misguided effort to relate to the common man is just plain disingenuous.

True, sociopaths tend to be impulsive purchasers, and spend money on showing off, and Bill is unquestionably a sociopath, but they also love money, and many end up as hedge fund managers or other rich Wall Street types, and Bill himself is reportedly worth upwards of $100MM now.

I read an article where the Clintons left the White House in debt, much of it due to legal fees (thus, apparently the cause of their poorness). Once out of the White House, Bill and Hillary could find avenues to earn "lots of money." Yes, they can't relate to the everyday man, but, I am not surprised that they had severe debt (ultimately resulting from Bill's shenanigans). Sociopaths are SPENDERS, in my opinion, not fully understanding MONEY (how to save it for the long-term). Oftentimes, your reap what you sow.

John - Have you ever heard the story that Bill may be one of the Rockefellers love children?

Wintrop Rockefeller was the Governor of Arkansas and Clinton does resemble the guy, somewhat.

Clintons broke? LMAO....hardy har har har har! That's a good one.

Was the article based on Hillary's recent claims or an independent accounting. Given all of Bill's pensions from being governor and President, and given the huge amounts of money he was paid to give speeches from the day he left the White House, I doubt they were every really poor. They may have owed money, but my guess is that their assets outweighed their debts, and in any case it was a foregone conclusion that they were about to hit the jackpot in various ways.

I agree with you that sociopaths are often flashy spenders, although there is another brand of sociopath who is remarkably cheap.

I hadn't heard that about a possible Rockefeller connection. I'd read enough about his background an this mother to know that the man she claimed was Clinton's father was obviously not (he was in Italy 9 months before Clinton was born, didn't return until 8 months before Clinton was born, and Clinton weight eight pounds plus at birth). But I doubt that Clinton's mother, who was basically a local floozy in Hope, Arkansas, and who had both a drinking and gambling problem, traveled in the same circles as Winthrop.

I read an article yesterday online (via mainstream media) about how the Clintons left the WH broke (mainly due to all of their legal bills). When I read the article, I didn't consider Bill's pensions or other assets that the couple had. I figured that what she said was plausible because of all the drama that occurred during his time as President of the USA. Defending themselves legally against all the self-inflicted nonsense had to have been expensive.

I agree, the lawyers would have been expensive, but I'm not even sure that the Clintons footed the entire bill (they may have, I'm just not sure). All the news that's come out about the Cilntons ring broke when they left the WH that's come out in the past few days has ben based on Hillary's account, which I think is a deceitful effort to make it seem as if the Clintons are "common folk" and thus empathize with the problems of the middle class. Strange, Bill has hung out with mostly billionaires since he's left office.
