Thin lips

(John Boyer, described in the previous post)

Don't know why, but I keep noticing that white sociopaths tend to have abnormally thin lips. It seems a specious correlation -- the lips don't contain the part of the brain which regulates decency -- but it's been too strong a correlation not to notice.

It's not always true, and it doesn't apply to non-Caucasian sociopaths, but with whites it seems to be true more often than not. I've noticed this with the sociopaths I've known personally, and also those I've seen only in photos.

It reminds me of how in the old days, fiction writers used to describe villains as being "thin-lipped," or having "cruel thin lips."

Why would this be so? I have no idea.

Gertrude Baniszewski was a definite sociopath (a film was made about her cruelty) and she had very thin lips. Other than her, I don't know of enough female sociopaths on whom to test this observation.

Wow, you weren't kidding. I just read the Wiki bio of her, and Baniszewski was textbook, utterly without compassion. And yes, she had those thin lips.

I read your post about John Boyer. He definitely has thin lips. I get really irked with the mothers who cause their child(ren) to become sociopaths. To me, they've basically destroyed a human being.

That's true, but it's also the case that the mothers are usually sociopaths themselves, and the reason they're that way is because THEIR mothers were as well.......and so on.

Interesting. I was searching to see if there was any scientific explanation on the subject and found your site at the top. Of sociopaths and psychopaths, I've seen a few and all had thin lips (white), and have been associating empathy with lip size due to the correlation for many years, but there's always doubt, so when I came across the site below it just bugged me again. Some sociopaths are murderers, and some are socio-engineers. You'd need to go through many celebs and known people to really get a better picture based on their lives.

It's weird, I can't think of any good explanation for it, but I keep seeing it too. I've mentioned it in many places on this blog, if you type "thin lips" into the subject bar of the blog, you'll see a lot of the relevant posts.

I just looked through that entire list of rich pastors. What a bunch of con men. I think they underestimated a lot of their net worths, too. My guess is that Jesse Jackson is well north of the $10 million he was estimated at, and also that Joel Osteen is well north of $40MM.

I particularly liked that guy who looked like an Elvis impersonator.

Oh yes, Leroy Jenkins reminds me of the great video game attack method though. I find the correlation difficult not to notice now. I've tried googling "good people + thin lips" to ensure I'm not creating a bias, but I guess there's nothing on the subject. And even studying the A.I. criminal facial recognition software, which was designed for Chinese faces, and deals with lip curve oddly enough, but that may be based on who's been caught, not who hasn't. It's hard to tell. Personally, I think it's a gene expression that associates lips to mirror neurons. Psychopathy(usually female)/sociopathy(usually male) are strong forms of narcissism. Think of it as the desire for revenge with irrational or no triggers at all (in short). The cause is thought to be a lack of, or malfunctioning mirror neurons which are what allow us to empathize with others. What I find interesting is that if this were true, then what does it mean for other personality traits and facial features? Your face may tell what type of person you are.

I hadn't realized there was even such a thing as criminal facial recognition software; interesting that it would take into account lip curve. I have the feeling that eventually science will discover a connection between character and certain physical features (even if that correlation is not perfect). But we're a long way from that now.
