Baby doll voices

I've never, ever, known a grown woman who affected a baby doll, sex kittenish voice who didn't come from a screwed up background; usually, at the very least, the father was missing.

I've previously said that "gay voice" is the surest giveaway of homosexuality in men.

Sex kitten/baby doll voice is probably the surest giveaway of phoniness in women.

It makes perfect sense: phony voice = phony person.

That rule applied to Madonna's English accent, Hillary's black accent, and Obama's black accent.

That's true, she did. And she also married Aristotle Onassis. Scratch a gold-digger and find a phony.

Marilyn Monroe had a baby doll voice as well. I was trying to think of anyone who had such a voice and voila, Marilyn Monroe came to mind.

Marilyn Monroe is the perfect example of the rule. There was sort of a person missing inside there.

Baby doll voice in a grown woman is so disturbing I tend to categorize these women as of questionably sanity. It sends a signal of something being not quite right about a person. Maybe I'm prejudiced because it creeps me out, I wonder if they did a study comparing baby voiced women to normal women.

I've just read your gay voice post and agree that more than anything else the voice gives them away. You describe it well, it's hard to pinpoint what it is about the way homosexual men speak since it's different than straight lisp yet shows up similarly across very different languages.

Is there such a thing as lesbian voice? I can't think of a woman outed by her voice. Haircut yes. And footwear of course.

It's not really a question of sanity so much as it is of just phoniness. It's sort of like when women thrust their breasts at you and pout and act overtly sexual: I've always found that to be a big turnoff. And the baby doll voice usually goes hand in hand with that kind of behavior. It's almost as if these women think they're appealing to the child molester in every man when they act like faux little girls. What I always seem to hear, though, is a faint echo of, "Daddy, why did you leave when I was a little girl? Wasn't I cute enough for you?"

It's sad, but simultaneously off-putting.

Yes, I've had that experience with guys any number of times, where I'm in doubt, but then I hear the voice and all doubt vanishes.

Ha, footwear. I'm not really a connoisseur of female footwear, though now that you mention it, I can't recall ever seeing a lesbian in high heels. (Maybe it's a function of the women I've known, but half of them just wore running shoes or flats most of the time anyway.) I suppose hiking boots would be a giveaway though. And you're right about the haircut, that Prince Valiant do is a signature look.

The voice I associate most closely with lesbians is a sort of hollow-sounding alto, not quite a tenor, that's delivered in a monotone. And I associate that voice with people who are usually educated but not smart, but try to sound smart by reciting the pc dogma as if that's something they thought of all by themselves.

This post got me thinking about celebrities, grown women with little girl voices. Having found a post on this subject on the Data Lounge website, here's a few ladies mentioned in the post (by commenters). Melanie Griffith, Jennifer Tilly, Bernadette Peter's, etc. Some commenters attribute this trait to being caused by some type of emotional trauma (most likely sexual abuse) occurring in their childhoods.

Thank you, that makes sense. I know Melanie Griffith was mauled by a lion, have no idea about the others.

Coincidentally, someone was telling me just the other day that there's no such thing as an actress who's well-adjusted. Maybe he was speaking hyperbolically, but.......

One of my favorite Christian authors in my early adult years had a girlish sounding voice, Ann Kiemel Anderson. I read her books (having discovered them in a Christian book store). Years ago, I heard her speak on a radio program and was stunned by the sound of her voice. She was a beautiful soul, died a couple of years ago, cancer. She married in her 30's, in my opinion, to a man who had a difficult personality. It sounds like he caused a bit of grief in her life. Ann can be found on YouTube. Maybe, some women just have girlish sounding voices for whatever reason, not always related to trauma.

Kristin Chenoweth is another performer with a girlish voice. It's amazing how many women have girlish voices.

I looked at the site you referenced, after you mentioned it, and saw her on the list. Then I went on Youtube to check some of them out, including her, and sure enough........

For some reason, this post has intrigued me. I'm on the lookout for girlish sounding women. Weird and also funny. Kristin Chenoweth is a very talented entertainer, a short, petite dynamo.

The two don't conflict. In fact, if anything, being an actress is the perfect job for an energetic phony.
