I turned 58 last week. It's high time I faced up to the brutal truth: in another ten years or so, I'm going to be middle-aged.
What's even worse is that in another two years I'll be entering the second half of my life. Now that's really depressing.

Ha! You're taking it well! But what happens if you turn out to right?!

PS For sure your 115-199 age group record in the 200 fly will last for a while ;)

I'm doing my best to say eff you to old age, but old age seems to be getting the last laugh.
As a 50-yr-old I swam a 200 scm fly in 2:18.8, as a 55-yr-old 2:19.7. Extrapolating from that, I expect my 115-119 time to be in the 2:32 range.
And as a friend pointed out, my 200-yr-old time should be around a 2:49.
John--
Welcome to being 58 as I've been for about 6 months. It's the new 38. Between medical technology and the Japanese influence you'll probably live very, very long. You're only getting better, and smarter. Happy birthday! Brian
Thank you Brian, and you too.
John,
I didn't see your post until today, Happy Birthday. As you know I turned 53 last month ( You have a few on me )I wanted to tell you seriously how much you motivate me to keep in shape. Your dedication to sustaining that lifestyle is incredible, keep it up and never...ever give in.
