Snow!

A friend, Dave Moriarty, just pointed out that most of the articles which have come out in the last couple days about the snowstorm which is about to hit the East Coast are treating us as if we've never seen snow before.

He's right. These articles have all been wonderfully informative:

The snow will make travel difficult. Flights will be cancelled. Some businesses will be shut down on Saturday. In the meantime, snow shovels are selling briskly. If you need to stock up on food, do so now.

You don't say.

Snow is falling where I live. I went out this morning with one of my son's to buy him a pair of snow boots. The roads were starting to get slippery. I called off work, dropped my son off at his dorm, and went home. I don't mind the snow fall one bit. If it stays for too long a time, then it would be an inconvenience.

Well we on the East Coast can't complain about too much snow this winter. I sorta like it when Mother Nature takes over like this, though an extended period of bad weather is always a pain, I agree.

After looking at my local news channel's weather report (we are now snowed in at my house), the website had information about what to do during this severe snow fall. I thought, for people who haven't experienced snow/ice before, the instructions might be useful to them. Also, there are people who aren't the brightest light bulbs in the pack, so instructions could prove useful to them as well.

True enough, I guess there are people in the DC area who've never been in a storm like this before.

I know that among all these wonderful illegal immigrants that are in our country, a few of them would need things spelled out regarding winter weather conditions. May they enjoy the deep, heavy snow (my children like it for sledding).

I suppose that's true. I'm against illegal immigration, but I actually think the majority of illegals in this country are perfectly fine people, they just want a better life for themselves. If I were Mexican I'd consider crossing the border too. But it's just not in our country's best interests to have them here.

This was the main story on British news channels! I couldn't work out why 'it is snowing in a different country and so far the snow is up to our ankles' was a major story.

Slow news day, I guess.

They were saying it was expected to be the worst snow snorm for 100 years but didn't look that bad to me. What was it like where you live?

btw

The cheap dumbell weights I had at my dad's house only added up to 17.5kg. It was pretty heavy ha, 34kg would be hard. I'll have to see if I can try it at the gymn next time I go to one.

We got about 14 or15" where I live, supposedly NYC got two feet.

Be careful of your back, don't hurt yourself. My advice is to work up to that weight gradually.

There was a story on the local news - apparently, the heavy snow caused the roof of a bowling alley to collapse. Amazing.

Birdie --
That usually happens with buildings with flat roofs as opposed to slanting ones.

The reason I took notice of the news story about the bowling alley is because my children had bowled at that bowling alley in past years. It was just startling to see what looked like a building that didn't look terribly old, collapse due to heavy snow on it's roof. It took me by surprise seeing it on t.v.
